Creatures of the Late Afternoon Live is a work full of heart, joyous choreography and incredible stunts and action sequences, all created live on stage using miniature sets, puppets, and practical effects. This energetic, exciting, fun-for-the-whole family experience combines the talents of artists from numerous artistic disciplines. It demonstrates in real-time the value of teamwork.
“My intention with this piece as always is to just try to create something beautiful, something that we can share with audiences of all ages and something that can surprise and delight them — maybe elicit some laughs and giggles or some sniffles during the poignant moments — and to show on stage in action, one of the main themes of the story, which is teamwork, and how with teamwork, the results are often greater than the sum of its parts.”

Creatures of the Late Afternoon Live is an action-packed, family-friendly, music-filled caper from acclaimed DJ, composer and storyteller Kid Koala.
In this inventive heart-filled production, a rag-tag band of species in danger unites to save their beloved habitat through the transformative power of music. As the story unfolds, the creatures begin to realize how each of them is part of a beautifully elaborate web of existence.
Celebrating biodiversity, the show speaks to the themes of teamwork and the strength of community. Blending film, music concert, theatre and puppetry, this live-film is performed and created entirely in real-time by a 15-member team of puppeteers,cinematographers, technicians and Kid Koala on piano, turntables and electronics, accompanied by a multi-instrumental ensemble.
This live show is an exciting expansion of Kid Koala’s Creatures of the Late Afternoon universe, which already features an LP and EP series, board game, and XR video!
