KID KOALA’S THE STORYVILLE MOSQUITO RETURNS TO THE MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL 2026

Back by popular demand, Kid Koala’s The Storyville Mosquito returns to the stage at the Montreal International Jazz Festival this June 25-28!

Following its Hong Kong premiere earlier in 2026, The Storyville Mosquito continues its journey with this much-anticipated return. This marks the fourth time the beloved work is presented at Place des Arts, celebrating a long-standing creative relationship between the show and one of its original co-commissioners.

The Storyville Mosquito is a live animated graphic novel performed, filmed, and scored entirely in real time. Miniature sets, live puppetry, cinematic camera work, and original music come together simultaneously on stage and screen, creating a live film before the audience’s eyes.

This Chaplin-esque story the story follows a young mosquito who leaves his quiet countryside home to pursue fame and fortune in the big city, dreaming of one day playing in the greatest jazz band of all time at Sid Villa’s Music Hall. The production speaks to themes of honesty, improvisation, inner voice, style, and collaboration. It’s a family-friendly theatrical experience that resonates across generations!
