KID KOALA’S THE STORYVILLE MOSQUITO MAKES ITS MEXICO DEBUT AT TWO MAJOR FESTIVALS
Kid Koala’s The Storyville Mosquito made its Mexico debut with standout performances in Guadalajara and Guanajuato, presented as part of two of the country’s most significant cultural festivals!
In Guanajuato, the production was featured at the renowned Festival Internacional Cervantino, the most important international artistic and cultural event in Mexico and one of the largest in Latin America. Each year, Cervantino transforms the UNESCO World Heritage city into a vibrant meeting point for artists from around the world across theatre, music, dance, and multidisciplinary performance. The Storyville Mosquito brought its genre-defying blend of live cinema, music, and puppetry to this remarkable international stage, captivating audiences in the heart of the historic city.
In Guadalajara, the show was presented at Festín de los Muñecos, a major international puppetry festival dedicated to contemporary visual theatre and innovative approaches to puppet arts. The festival highlights works that expand the language of puppetry, making it a natural home for Kid Koala’s technically astonishing live animated graphic novel.

Performed, filmed, scored, and foleyed in real time by fifteen performers using eight cameras, twenty miniature sets, and seventy-five puppets, The Storyville Mosquito follows the charming journey of a mosquito who moves to the big city to chase his dream of becoming a great musician. With a live string trio, Kid Koala on piano and turntables, and cinematic storytelling unfolding before the audience’s eyes, the show once again proved why it has toured eight countries, twenty cities, performed over 80 shows and earned a Dora Award for Outstanding Touring Production.
Mexico welcomed the mosquito with open arms: two cities, two major festivals, and packed houses for a production that continues to resonate across cultures.
